Database Monitor Template
The Database Monitor Template enables you to monitor the availability of a database and optionally the responsiveness of SQL command. This template is typically used to notify database administrators when a database server is down or slow to respond.
How to configure the Database Monitor Template:
- From the Menu Bar, select File | New. The Create New Object View displays.
- From the Create New Object View, expand Templates | Network and Application Monitors then select Database Monitor. The New Template Properties View displays.
- The Template Properties view contains 3 tabs.
The Options Tab

Use the Data Providers drop-down to select the data provider you would like to monitor.
If you have not yet configured the database connection, create a new Data Provider with the role set to None. For more information see: Data Providers - Use the Warning trigger and Critical trigger controls to set the connection and command timeout trigger thresholds.
- Use the Command text box to specify the SQL command to execute (e.g. select * from yourtable).
- Click the Test button to verify the template is configured property and the monitor executes as expected.

Finally, select the General Tab, then click the click the
Auto-Generate Name
button to auto-generate a name based on the configured settings.
