PowerShell Monitor Template

The PowerShell Monitor Template enables you to trigger alerts based on the results returned from a PowerShell script. This template is typically used by systems administrators to monitor Windows domain configuration settings.

Alert This template requires the Agent to be installed on all managed systems.
  • From the Menu Bar, select File | New. The Create New Object View displays.
  • From the Create New Object View, expand Templates | Windows Monitors then select PowerShell Monitor. The New Template Properties View displays.
  • The Template Properties view contains 4 tabs.

The Options Tab

  • Use the Windows server or workstation drop-down to select the Windows host you would like to monitor.
    Information Once selected, the host is automatically assigned to this template.
  • Use the PowerShell script drop-down to select the target PowerShell script.
  • Use the Arguments text box to specify command-line arguments. Use the Variable Variable Button button to specify variables you would like to include in the arguments (e.g. {HOST}).
  • Use the Execute Execute PowerShell script button to view the PowerShell script results.
  • Use the Column definitions to execute the PowerShell script, parse the results, then generate corresponding column definitions.
  • Use the Warning trigger and the Critical trigger controls to apply trigger criteria to each returned row.
  • Click the Test button to verify the template is configured property and the monitor executes as expected.
  • Finally, select the General Tab, then click the click the Auto-Generate Name Auto Generate Name Button button to auto-generate a name based on the configured settings.
