SNMP Trap Consolidation Template
The SNMP Trap Consolidation Template enables you to save all received SNMP traps to the Log Database Data Provider. This template is typically used by systems administrators to retain a history of SNMP traps sent from devices such as switches and routers.
How to configure the SNMP Trap Consolidation Template:
First, verify the SNMP Trap Server is enabled.
For more information see: SNMP Trap Server Properties. |
- From the Menu Bar, select File | New. The Create New Object View displays.
- From the Create New Object View, expand Templates | SNMP Monitors then select SNMP Trap Consolidation. The New Template Properties View displays.
- The Template Properties view contains 3 tabs.
The Options Tab
- Optionally assign a Consolidation filter to dump SNMP traps you do not want saved to the Log Database. When assigned, only entries that pass the assigned consolidation filter are saved to the Log Database.
- Use the Log Entry Retention Policy drop-down to select the retention policy. The retention policy is another template that defines the number of days to retain in the Primary and Archive Log Databases, for example, archive SNMP traps older than 30 days and retain SNMP traps for 150 days for a total of 180 days. Assign multiple retention policies to remove SNMP traps that match filter criteria defined in each retention policy. For more information see: Log Entry Retention Policy Template
- Finally, select the General Tab, then click the click the Auto-Generate Name button to auto-generate a name based on the configured settings.
