  • Previously when users did not save their password when logging into the Console and the service was restarted, the Console would continue to attempt to reconnect without a password causing the account to get locked out. The software now logs out when the connection to the service is lost and the login password has not been saved.

  • A new TCP Syslog Server options has been added to enable devices that re-connect each time they send a message to be automatically cleaned up rather than waiting for the idle timeout. To set the option check the Close duplicate connections option available via the Syslog Server Settings view.
  • The Syslog Monitor and Syslog Consolidation Templates have been updated to include recovered actions. The Syslog Monitor Template fires recovered actions when the monitor contains two filter assignments, one that sets the state to warning or higher and another that sets the state to ok, and state moves from triggered to ok. The Syslog Consolidation Template fires recovered actions when the database connection is lost then recovered.
  • Previously when batch assigning objects checking a group did not automatically check the children objects. This bug has been fixed.

  • Users can now send alert notifications to Microsoft Teams. To configure, create a new Connection of type Incoming Webhook. Once complete, create a new Action then select the Microsoft Teams action. Specify the Incoming Webhook URL that was created when you created the Incoming Webhook then assign the action to the target templates.

  • Previously when changing an existing Data Provider type, such as changing from the File System to SQL Server, the database name was not set requiring the user to set the name manually. The properties view has been updated to update various fields, such as the database name, when the type changes.
20.0.0.293 Fixed Critical Non-English Authentication Bug 2021-01-21
  • Previously when logging in with the Console the service checked to verify the user was in the administrator role using the name 'Administrators' which prevented the users running on localized Windows installations such as German from logging in. If the current authentication method fails, the software now checks the list of user claims against for the presence of the built-in administrator group's SID. According to Microsoft's documentation, both domain admins and enterprise admins are added to this group when applicable. Users on non-English systems should now be able to login as expected.

  • Fixed several Simple Event Log, Text Log and Syslog filter UI bugs that were exposed when updating a filter from a log viewer's select filter drop-down box.

  • Previously the installer neglected to include the critical trigger image which caused critical email alerts to throw an error. This bug has been fixed.
20.0.0.285 Updated AD and Local Account Lockout Monitors 2021-01-19
  • Previously the Active Directory and Local Account Lockout Monitors (not the Event Log Monitors) would only trigger once any account was locked out then, when the suppress options was enabled, suppress actions on new account lockouts. The monitor has been updated to only suppress actions when the same unique result set is locked out. If new account lockouts are detected within the suppress window, the actions will now be triggered with a list of all the currently locked out accounts. The recovery has also been updated to fire recovery actions each time accounts are unlocked.
  • Fixed a validation error and several focus bugs in the Syslog and Text Log Simple Filter Properties views.
20.0.0.283 Added Host Inventory and Agent Auto-Update Functions. 2021-01-18
  • A new function called Host Inventory has been added. Using WMI, the service automatically attempts to pull operating system and hardware information from configured Windows machines. The Log Manager Agent has also been updated to push operating system, hardware information and installed version on a daily schedule. The Host Inventory can be found within the Host Properties view. A new report type called Host Inventory has also been added. The Host Inventory report lists the assigned host status and host inventory when available. Finally, the Dashboard has been updated to include a global Host Inventory Report.

  • All log monitoring and consolidation templates have been updated to recover if previously in an error state but now in an OK state. The associated property pages have also been updated to include Recovery Actions.
  • Previously when executing a monitor in verbose mode, the verbose popup messages did not include the host and template name. This bug has been fixed.
  • The system tray icon notifications have been updated to include a close button.
  • Previously the Explorer view would automatically horizontally scroll if the tree view item's text extended beyond the screen. The automatic horizontal scroll has been disabled.
  • The Explorer View previously used WPF's virtualization mode which caused scrolling and search focus bugs. Virtualization has been disabled.
  • Previously the Explorer View did not allow users to unassign a report from a report group. This bug has been fixed.
  • Previously the Email Action Properties view displayed a red box around the add button when only a partial email address was typed. This bug has been fixed.

20.0.0.274 Optimized the Console and Resolved Memory Leaks 2021-01-06
  • Previously the Console was attempting to optimize many views which received multiple line item updates at the same time, for example the Verbose Output views such as the Service Output view. When load testing and pushing 1000s of messages through the Verbose Output views every few seconds we saw the Console consume %5 of the CPU. The open source optimization code that was being used caused the CPU to spike and leaked memory. The default Microsoft components along with some new wrapper functions now enables thousands of messages to be received in the same timeframe with the Console reporting 0% CPU load. The memory leaks were also resolved.

  • Previously, in several edge cases, when monitoring files, no matching files were found and the option to ignore file not found errors was not selected, the monitors did not trigger file not found errors. This bug has been fixed.
  • Previously, in several edge cases, file monitoring leaf nodes found in the UI did not always update the state in the tree view properly. This bug has been fixed.
  • Fixed several handle leak errors.
20.0.0.268 Added Summary Reports and Fixed Several Bugs 2020-12-30
  • A new report type called Summary Reports have been added to the software. Summary Reports contain the current status detail for each host and template and can be grouped by host, template or template type. 3 new Summary Reports have been added to the default configuration. To load the new pre-installed Summary Reports to an existing installation, select Tools -> Create Default Objects. The new reports are located under Reports / Sample Reports / Summary Reports, are assigned to all configured hosts, scheduled to run daily at 6:00 AM and finally send an email alert when complete.
  • Users can now assign Templates and Reports to the root Hosts node.
  • Previously when assigning a report to a host group the report did not appear under each assigned host. This bug has been fixed.
  • The HTML templates have been updated to better support Microsoft Outlook. To get the updated HTML templates, first uninstall the application then re-install. When re-installing, program data is neither removed nor modified.
  • Previously the Error Report was removing entries when ever a host with an error successfully ran another monitor. This bug has been fixed.

  • The Options view has been updated to include an option to disable the System Tray Icon.
  • Previously the System Tray Icon used the saved password to connect to the service. When users did not save their password the Tray Icon was unable to connect to the service. The Tray Icon has been updated to connect to a new anonymous interface found within the service with limited access to status events allowing for the connection without credentials.
  • Several files have been removed from the stand-alone Management Console installer. This is breaking change which requires users to uninstall the Management Console prior to installing the latest.

  • Previously the log reports did not allow for only selecting archived logs via the Explicitly assigned consolidated logs option. This bug has been fixed.
  • Previously when deleting an object group such as an Action Group, all actions were unassigned from all Templates, Reports and Continuous Delivery Pipelines. This bug has been fixed.
  • Previously when deleting a Host Group, the assigned hosts were not deleted. This bug has been fixed.

  • The newly added syslog RFC 5424 and 3164 support was only being applied to scheduled reports and the real-time viewers. The consolidated log viewers and reports now also support RFC 5424 and 3164.

  • Previously when pulling logs from a Windows Event Collector server, entries that had the same entry ID or primary key on different hosts were dropped. This bug has been fixed.
  • Previously the Success Logons (RDP and Interactive) Filter was filtering on RDP and Network logins. The filter also did not handle Server 2012-2008R2 4624 events. Both bugs have been fixed. To get the latest version of the filter, first delete the Real-Time Success Logons Monitor Template then delete the Success Logons (RDP and Interactive) Filter, finally, select Tools | Create Default Objects.
  • Previously the Failed Logons (RDP and Interactive) Filter was filtering on RDP and Network logins. The filter also did not properly handle 4776 events triggering when a Success Audit events were detected. These bugs have been fixed. To get the latest version of the filter, first delete the Real-Time Failed Logon Monitor Template then delete the Failed Logons (RDP and Interactive) Filter, finally, select Tools | Create Default Objects.
  • Previously when attempting to copy an existing Complex Filter, the paste function failed. This bug has been fixed.
20.0.0.232 Added Syslog RFC 5424 and RFC 3164 support. 2020-11-23
  • The Syslog Viewer, Filters and Reports have been updated to support RFC 5424 and RFC 3164. These RFCs include specifications for parsing the TIME, HOST, APP-NAME, PROCESS_ID, MESSAGE_ID and DATA fields. Users can now filter, view and alert on each of these fields. The 'Syslog to Event Log (Customized) ' pre-installed Action has been updated to include the new fields. By default RFC 5424 is enabled on new installations and disabled on current installations. RFC 3164 is always disabled. Use the Syslog Server Properties view to change the default settings.
  • Previously the Real-Time Event Log Viewer did not display the log name in each record. This bug has been fixed.
  • Previously the Simple Event Log Filter criteria did not support a space after comma separated string values. For example, previously multiple sources had to be specified 'value1,value2', however, now users can specify 'value1, value2'.
  • Previously RegEx filters were not escaping the '] ' character. This bug has been fixed.
  • The Syslog Server Properties are now available via the Options dialog and Options tree node.

  • Previously the new Agent, the Console and the Tray Icon applications only truncated their respective log files when the processes were restarted. These processes now automatically truncate the files. The agent is limited to 10 MBs and the user interface applications are limited to 1 MBs.
  • Previously when a Monitor, Report or Continuous Delivery Pipelines was in an error state, tree node and status windows displayed the critical icon rather than the error icon. This bug has been fixed.
  • Previously the HTML file and email output did not break words that were too long for the screen. The HTML stylesheets have been updated to break words so the tables do not overrun the screen. To get the updated styles, you must uninstall then re-install the application. Please note, when uninstalling data and configurations are retained.
  • Previously when a Continuous Delivery Pipeline failed to connect to AD, error email alerts did not include the detailed message. This bug has been fixed.
  • Previously when sending out free disk space monitor email alerts, the generated images were leaked in the temporary directory. This bug has been fixed.
  • Previously the Service Restart function did not properly restart the service. This bug has been fixed.
  • Previously the real-time text log file viewer was not able to filter by selected entries. This bug has been fixed.
  • Several real-time text log viewer paging bugs were fixed.

  • Previously the installer did not install the Corner Bowl Log Manager service with a dependency on WMI. In some cases this caused the software to lose it's licensing until the service was restarted. The updated installer will automatically add the dependency when updated.

  • Previously when the Server Account Logout Monitor was processing a large number of locked out users and the operator attempted to stop the service or cancel the monitor, in some cases the monitor may not have stopped until processing was complete. This bug has been fixed.
  • Previously the Server Account Logout Monitor template logged each user that is locked out but wrote an empty message. This bug has been fixed.

  • Previously when creating a Criteria Group in the Complex Filter configuration screen, current criteria was not wrapped within the new group making the process of creating nested groups tedious when multiple criteria existed. The criteria are not added to the new group. Also, when creating new filter criteria, the criteria was appended rather than inserted at the current focused position. The criteria is now inserted below the current position.
  • The consolidated log viewers now offer more entries per page and days per page option ranges including 6/9/12 months (185, 275, 365 days).
