Administrator and Read-Only Access Assignment

Out-of-the-box Server Manager limits access to either domain administrator or local administrator accounts. Server Manager enables you to circumvent Windows Security by enabling administrator access to non-administrator users and groups. Server Manager also enables you to provide read-only access so Auditors can log into the Management Console, review log repository contents, view reports and monitor logs in real-time. Use this view to assign groups and users you would like to provide administrator and read-only access too.

  • From the Explorer view, navigate to Options -> Security. The Security Properties view displays.

To provide administrator access to non-administrator accounts

  • Find the Administrator Access Assignment control group.
  • Use the Windows groups drop-down to enter the Windows Groups you would like to allow full access to.
  • Use the Windows users and accounts drop-down to enter the Windows user accounts you would like to allow full access to.

To provide read-only access to auditors

  • Find the Read-Only Access Assignment control group.
  • Use the Windows groups drop-down to enter the Windows Groups you would like to allow read-only access to.
